LNBF Polarization Tilt or Skew

No Tilt:

If your in Houston Texas, LNBF Polarization will be set to Zero (the LNBF coaxial outputs will be facing down at exactly the number 6 on a clock)

Negative Tilt:

If your located on the California coast (West coast) your LNBF polarization could be as much as minus 30 degrees (rotation clockwise). The LNBF coaxial outputs will be tilted to the left (clockwise) up to a maximum of minus 30 degrees, when looking at the front of the satellite dish.. You will have to tune your satellite signal and tweak your LNBF by twisting it slowly from 30 degrees back to 0 and see what setting gives you the highest readings, then tighten your LNBF.

Positive Tilt

If your located in Maine (East coast) your LNBF polarization could be as much as plus 30 degrees (rotation counter-clockwise). The LNBF coaxial outputs will be tilted to the right (counter-clockwise) when looking from the front of the satellite dish. You will have to tune your satellite signal and tweak your LNBF by twisting it slowly from the plus 30 degrees slowly back towards 0 and tighten your LNBF's bolts when you get the highest signal quality levels.

Note: 30 degrees is approximately 5 minutes on a clock so don't turn the LNBF too much.

 

Voltage From Receiver Test:

To test if your voltage from your receiver is going to your LNBF get a small volt meter and put the red led on the center part of the coaxial wire and put the black led on the outside art of the connector. When you change channels you should get a reading of +13 volts or +18 volts. If you get these readings then your receiver is working properly, if not something is wrong with the receiver.
